Speaker 1:

Welcome to the podcast. I'm Scott McLean. Now, at this point of the introduction, I would usually tell you who my guest is, what they do and how they help veterans, but this week it's a different kind of episode. You see, I've been on vacation and, well, I didn't get a chance to interview anybody last week. So, rather than just skip an episode, I thought I'd be the good podcaster that I am and I'm going to give the listeners an episode, even if I have to make one up, and that's what you're going to get here. But it's not all made up. You see, I'm going to talk about the podcast. I'm going to tell you how it's doing, where we're at and maybe what's on the horizon for the Vets Connection podcast. First I'll start off with maybe you've noticed, maybe you haven't, maybe you paid attention, maybe you don't I did a little rebranding.

Speaker 1:

I added three letters to the name. Whereas it used to be Vets Connect, now it's Vets Connection. See, I like it like that. I think it's a fuller name and well, since I'm the host, I guess I can do that. So it's Vets Connection Podcast. Now I'm going to hit you with some podcast.

Speaker 1:

Did you knows, did you know, the average number of podcast episodes published before a podcaster quits ranges between seven and 10 episodes. They burn out. They don't like it. It's work. It's not what they thought. There's a hundred reasons, but we're on episode 12 and there's no end in sight. See, I'm not a quitter. That's just me. Though, and to put things into even more context, it's estimated that around 44% of podcasts have three or fewer episodes, and I hate that because they take up a lot of space in the podcast universe. But maybe they're good, maybe they're not. I don't know who am I to judge. And I hate that because they take up a lot of space in the podcast universe. But maybe they're good, maybe they're not. I don't know who am I to judge.

Speaker 1:

Did you know that there's an estimated 100 YouTube channels to every one podcast? That's a lot. That's why I don't really push the YouTube channel. That's a lot of competition. So, a hundred YouTube channels to every one podcast, but I will continue to put the audio podcast on YouTube because the more platforms, the better, right? Did you know?

Speaker 1:

The average lifespan of a podcast is approximately six months. That includes the people that get beyond the seven to ten episode mark, and then you get into the next leg of it. This is where content has to be consistent and a lot of podcasters they run out of content, but not the Vets Connection podcast, oh no, there's plenty of content to come. Considering I have another podcast that's on episode 150, I think I have the stamina to push through all this and make this a successful podcast. Did you know that, on average, podcasts that have been live for 30 days get around 141 downloads within the first month? The Vets Connection podcast, action Podcast, is averaging 435 downloads a month. That's way above average, and that's because of you listeners. You all have been great. Your support is amazing and sharing it and telling people about it is truly appreciated by me. And, as of this episode, we're right at about 1300 downloads, which is great for the first three months. And again, thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate your support.

Speaker 1:

Now I'm going to hit you with a couple of stats about the Vets Connection podcast. That this, this always makes me laugh. I can't figure it out, but I don't question it. It's one of those things. The Vets Connection podcast has been heard to this point in 144 cities around the United States, and this and five countries around the world, including the United States. The other four are Germany, sweden, canada and Norway. That blows my mind. It's cool. It's cool, but it's it's just seems strange to me. But hey, stats don't lie, right? Stats don't lie, and that's what the stats say. 144 cities, which I'm not going to name, off in five countries around the world, that's pretty cool. Did I say that already?

Speaker 1:

Okay, now let's talk about the future of the podcast. In the future. So bright, I gotta wear shades. It's a little 80s song for us boomers, and some gen x's, gen z's wouldn't get it, but I don't know if they're even listening. I don't know. So we have a lot of people in the queue that want to come on and be interviewed and I can't wait.

Speaker 1:

And I'm in the process of working on something very interesting. It's going to be a challenge, but I have some people with me working on it and it's basically evolved from this podcast. And again, I can't tell you right now, but as soon as this thing comes to fruition, you will be the first to know. And the reason you'll be the first to know is because you are the engine that runs this machine. Without you and your support, this podcast wouldn't be what it's becoming. You are as much of a part of this podcast, as I am. And I said it earlier and I'll say it again thank you, thank you, thank you. You really don't know how much I appreciate you and I'm going to do my best to keep putting out good episodes, listenable episodes, informative episodes, and with that I think I'm done with my update episode, my update episode, my filler episode.

Speaker 1:

Again, can't skip an episode, that would make no sense, right? And I promise you, these episodes will be few and far between, but I will drop one in every once in a while to let you know where we we are at. And, as usual, if you like this episode, if you like this podcast, share it. If you want to get in touch with the podcast, you can reach me at vetsconnectionpodcast at gmailcom. If you would like to be on the podcast, you can reach me at vetsconnectionpodcast at gmailcom. Maybe you might want to visit the website, wwwvetsconnectpodcastcom. And, as I always say, you'll hear me next Monday with an actual guest, trust me.
